MOMENTUM INTO ELECTION DAY CONTINUES AS STATE’S LARGEST NEWSPAPER SHOWS HIRONO WITH 22 POINT LEAD
HONOLULU, HI – Today, Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Mazie Hirono issued the following statement after a new poll from the Honolulu Star-Advertiser, Hawaii’s largest newspaper, shows her leading her Republican opponent, Linda Lingle, 57-35:
"I'm humbled by the support this poll shows and it reaffirms that the people of Hawaii see a clear choice in this election.
"What I am hearing across the state is that people want our next U.S. Senator to value and honor the commitments made to our kupuna, create educational opportunities for our keiki, and get to work creating jobs. Despite increasingly desperate and negative attacks from mainland special interest groups, the people of Hawaii will not be fooled.
"On November 6th, we can choose between a U.S. Senator that shares our Hawaii values of equal opportunity and fair play, will partner with President Obama and Senator Inouye to move Hawaii and our country forward; or a Senator who would block that progress.
"While the Star-Advertiser poll is encouraging, we're not taking anything for granted and encourage every one to come out and vote in this race and help re-elect President Barack Obama on November 6th because the stakes in this race are high for Hawaii and our country."
